Security baselines are not an upsell. Multi-factor authentication is checked in every column above, including the free self-hosted edition. Charging for a second factor prices some customers out of being secure, and we would rather not be that vendor. SSO is a paid convenience — it moves authentication to your identity provider — but nobody has to buy a plan to stop a stolen password being enough on its own.
Built for enterprise security requirements
Rackvio is closed-source. We maintain auditability through third-party verification and published documentation — not source publication.
Enterprise customers can request source escrow agreements for business continuity protection.
Frequently asked questions
No. Rackvio is a closed-source commercial product. We distribute a free self-hosted binary under a proprietary license — you can run it without paying, but the source code is not published. Enterprise customers can request source escrow agreements for business continuity protection.
Cloud Growth is $299/month for up to 500 assets. Beyond 500, pricing scales at $2 per asset per month. So 1,000 assets is $299 + (500 × $2) = $1,299/month; 2,500 assets is $4,299/month; 5,000 assets is $9,299/month. Above 5,000 assets, contact us for an Enterprise quote with volume pricing.
Annual Cloud Growth includes the same 500 assets. Beyond that you are billed on the ‘average’ of your monthly asset-count peaks across the year — not the sum of them — rounded up to the nearest asset, at $20 per asset per year. Two things follow. A single busy month cannot dominate your invoice the way it would on a monthly plan, because it is averaged against the quieter ones. And $20/asset/year is less than the $24 the monthly rate would come to over twelve months ($2/asset/month × 12), so the annual commitment is cheaper per asset as well as simpler. The average is taken over the months actually elapsed, so signing up mid-year is not penalised for months you were not subscribed.
Cloud plans include a 30-day free trial on Cloud Growth, with full read/write access throughout. We collect a card at signup, so at day 30 your trial converts automatically to a paid plan — Growth, or Starter if you downgraded before then — and you’re never interrupted. You can cancel anytime before day 30 at no charge. If a payment later fails, the tenant enters a 7-day read-only grace period (you can still read and export all your data, but writes, new users, and imports are blocked), then locks fully 30 days after that; login redirects to a reactivation page and your data stays in place. Updating your card restores full access at any point before data is purged.
Yes. The Self-Hosted Free tier and Enterprise plan both support fully air-gapped deployments with zero outbound network connections required. We publish a complete network traffic policy documenting exactly what the binary does and does not call home.
SOC 2 Type I and third-party penetration testing are both on our near-term roadmap. We do not publish a target date for either until it is committed, because a date that slips is worth less to your security team than no date at all. What we publish today is concrete and checkable now: a full OpenAPI spec, a software bill of materials (SBOM) with every release, signed release artifacts, and a network traffic policy documenting exactly what the product does and does not send outbound — so your team can verify our behaviour rather than take our word for it.
All plans include full data export at any time. Enterprise customers can request a source escrow agreement — source code is held by a neutral third party and released under defined trigger conditions such as insolvency or product discontinuation.
Most DCIM tools track only installed capacity versus consumed power. Rackvio’s three-state model tracks sold, provisioned, and consumed power separately — exposing stranded capacity that has been committed to customers but is not yet drawing load. This is where colocation operators lose revenue. The method is patent-pending.
